Open the App Store. Facebook Messenger is available for free from the App Store.

Search for "Facebook Messenger". Select it from the list of results.

Tap "Get" and then tap "Install".

Enter your Apple ID password (if prompted). Depending on your security settings, you may be asked to enter your password before you can download the app.

Wait for the app to download. This may take a few moments. Depending on your settings, you may need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network to download the app.

Start Facebook Messenger. You can find it on one of your Home screens after it has been installed,

Login with your Facebook account. After logging in for the first time, you'll be asked to set your notification preferences.
- If you already have the Facebook app, Messenger will usually retrieve your login details so you don't have to enter your email and password again.

Start using Facebook Messenger. Once you are logged in, you will be shown all of your Facebook conversations. You can use the app to chat with any of your Facebook friends.
